What is following.js in your X archive?
following.js lists the accounts you follow, each as an account ID with a link to the profile. Like follower.js, it has no handles, names or dates.
How to open it
It is a text file in the archive’s data folder. Open it in any text editor; delete the first line’s window.YTD... = prefix and the rest is plain JSON any JSON tool can read. Our free viewer does not read this file yet; it covers likes, bookmarks and your own posts.
Fields in following.js
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| accountId | Account ID of an account you follow. |
| userLink | Link to their profile, when accessible. |
What it is useful for
- A backup of who you follow before cleaning up your follows.
- Finding the same people on another network.
What to watch out for
- IDs only. Accounts that were deleted or suspended keep an ID but the link no longer works.
